Precautions for Reusable SPO2 Sensor Operation

As a key tool for non-invasive monitoring of blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate, the proper use of SPO2 sensors is directly related to the accuracy of monitoring data and patient safety. Whether disposable or reusable, a series of specifications and precautions must be followed during operation, covering pre-use inspection, application methods, cleaning and maintenance, environmental avoidance, and other aspects. This ensures that they stably perform their monitoring functions in both clinical and home settings, providing a reliable basis for health assessment.

1.Pre-Use Inspection:Check for damage (e.g., frayed cables, scratched probes); ensure connectors are intact. Confirm compatibility with monitoring devices and use recommended adapters if necessary.

2.Proper Application:Select the appropriate size based on the patient (neonatal/pediatric/adult) for a snug yet comfortable fit. Avoid extremities with edema, cyanosis, or skin lesions; change the application site every 2–4 hours for long-term use. Align the probe components on opposite sides of the limb and keep them unobstructed.

3.Cleaning and Disinfection:Disinfect with approved agents (e.g., 70% isopropyl alcohol) after use. Do not immerse, autoclave, or use abrasive cleaners. Ensure thorough drying before reuse.

4.Environmental and Usage Regulations:Keep away from strong electromagnetic sources, high-voltage equipment, sharp objects, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Use solely for the specified purposes.

5.Maintenance and Storage:Store in a dry, cool place with cables coiled loosely. Follow regular maintenance and calibration procedures; replace aging sensors promptly when performance declines. Maintain and archive records properly.
